Ceci Potter is currently a junior at Elon
University where she studies Theatre Studies and Dance. At
Elon, Ceci is involved in Elon’s Finest, a student-run hip
hop organization, and Danceworks, a student performance
group that derives from Elon’s dance department. This
upcoming spring she will be head choreographer of her
sorority’s Greek Week dance. This dance will compete against
the dances of other organizations in April.
Ceci began dancing at age 4 and has continued for 16 years.
She began her training at the Acton-Boxborough Regional
Dance Center near Boston and has had training in ballet,
tap, contemporary, hip hop, jazz, and pointe. Ceci has also
been trained in Filipino folk dance and African dance. Ceci
was dance captain in the musicals 42nd Street,
Once Upon a Mattress, and Brigadoon at
Acton-Boxborough Regional High School. She had the pleasure
of playing Sally Bowles in Cabaret her senior year.
Ceci was honored to participate in the North Shore Music
Theatre Competition where her theatre organization received
awards for best musical, best choreography, and best choral
ensemble for 42nd Street and for
Brigadoon. She was the first student to choreograph
shows at her high school, including Murder at the Prom,
Peter Pan, and You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown.
Ceci
recently performed in the Elon Dance Department’s
Choreography Salon, where she danced in two pieces as well
as presented her own choreographic work. She will continue
dance in graduate school, where she hopes to receive her
masters in dance performance and choreography.
This
is Ceci’s first year at COPA and she is incredibly excited
to be teaching tap and hip hop which are some of her
absolute favorite styles.
